Lalo is desperate because he is not making enough with 200 pesos a week [20 dollars] But Lajat does not allowed him to visit his daughter in the hospital during the time that supposedly he has to be working in the plant. He feels like a prisoner of Lajat during his shift work even if they don’t have row material to work in the plant. [In this picture Lalo is in Lajat Manufacturing and it looks like a jail]
Lalo’s has 11 years working in Lajat. He has 9 years old daughter which was born with health problems. He has been working in maintenance department during these 11 years and he always was in contact with potassium, Clorox, sandblasting and other chemicals for the stonewashing. He is declaring in the newspaper that Lajat is responsible not just because he was exposed to those chemical without safety equipment in his work but also because when the workers decided to improved their working conditions and form their own union, the company went on strike, moved the production to another subcontractors and reduced the salaries of the workers.
Lalo used to make 1,300 pesos a week and now he is making 450 pesos a week. Has a housing government loan and Lajat is deducting 25% of his salaries weekly. He is taking home just 200 pesos a week. [20 dollars] But Lajat is not paying the housing loan that is deducting of his salary and the interest on the housing loan is increasing.
Normita his daughter, need oxygen permanently. She needs a heart and lung transplant.
