Lajat Victory - Levi's Workers in the Laguna Region

Garment Industry workers from La Laguna Region rebelled against Levi's, demanding better working condition and negotiate a labor agreement setting a precedent in La Laguna region.

The Manufacturas Lajat, S.R.L. de C.V, company located in the industrial zone of Gomez Palacio, Durango, carries out sewing, laundering, ironing, inspection and finishing operations of its Levis’ jeans brand. Workers Denounce Labor Irregularites in Maquiladoras The Coalition for Justice in the Maquiladoras denounced that the company Lajat was moving machinery from Gómez Palacio to their plant in Torreón . The workers went to the Conciliation and Arbitration Board to announce what was happening, before the injustices committed by part of the owners. The affected workers advised by the Coalition, demanded to be paid severance.

Workers Fight to be Reinstated The workers were determined to ask for assistance from the media alter the company Lajat starting transporting the machinery and try leaving the workers unprotected. The workers already denounced their situation before the Conciliation and Arbitration Board and they sent an inspector to investigate. What the workers are fighting for at this moment is to be reinstated in conjunction with Article 439 of the Federal Labor Law Book.

The Company Changes Their Labor Conditions 40 Workers from the company Lajat, filed a complaint before the Conciliation and Arbitration Board in Gómez Palacio for the abuses committed against them by the said company. The company changed their labor conditions, for which now they ask to be liquidated according to the law.
